About Me

Aloha!  I teach special education in a resource room setting for 2nd graders in Hawaii.  Most of my students have specific learning disabilities (SLD), but I also see students that are diagnosed with autism, traumatic brain injury, emotionally handicapped, and intellectual disabilities.  I'm starting my fifth year teaching, and I've learned that I have A LOT more to learn!!!

I'm also the lucky mom and wife to a fabulous family.  I have a 19-year-old daughter, 16-year-old daughter, and 8-year-old triplets.  Yes, that is correct.....triplets.  Our house is loud, chaotic, drama-filled, and messy!  There is rarely a moment where something ridiculous isn't happening.  My 19-year-old is attending college (where has the time gone?), my 16-year-old is a junior (how is it possible?), and the triplets are in third grade this year at my school (how did they get so big?).  My husband is a Marine, who helps keep the chaos of our family somewhat under control.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.  I love that blogging allows us all to collaborate together, share resources, and grow as teachers.

  2. Thanks for stopping by MaryBeth. I do use snap words with my kids and LOVE them. It's amazing how just giving kids a visual and sentence for a word makes a world of difference. One of my kindergartners has been working on the word has today. He can't remember the word when I show him the word has but when I show him the picture he remembers. He thinks that has is a robber because "He has a bag of money." Soooo cute!

    1. Gloria - What a small world that you teach SPED and your hubby is a Marine! Have you found it hard to find jobs as you've PCS'd? That's my biggest worry.

  15. I was just looking for some connections for special education resource teachers. It's interesting, because so far I didn't think there was much of a network. Are there any other resource bloggers/sites/twitter hashtags?

  19. Teaching is a truly transformative endeavor that empowers individuals with knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of the world. As an aspiring accountant, I have come to appreciate the role of effective teaching in shaping my understanding of financial principles and accounting concepts. However, coursework in accounting can be quite challenging, requiring a firm grasp of various topics and meticulous attention to detail. In such moments, the support of accounting coursework help becomes invaluable. Just as a dedicated teacher guides students towards success, these expert helpers provide personalized assistance, clarifying doubts, and aiding in the completion of assignments with precision. Embracing the knowledge imparted by educators and the expertise of accounting coursework help, I am equipped to confidently tackle accounting challenges, and I'm reminded of the profound impact teaching has on nurturing curious minds and fostering academic growth.

  21. When it comes to getting to know someone, their "About Me" section is like the ingredients list of a perfect pizza. Just as I love customizing my online pizza order to suit my taste, understanding a person through their "About Me" reveals their unique blend of experiences and interests. It's the first slice of their life story, and it makes connecting over a virtual pizza even more enjoyable
